HPCSA Past Presidents Award 2019

The HPCSA honoured Past Presidents at the Gala Dinner held during the recent 2019 National Conference. The Past President’s Award is aimed at recognizing a senior member who has served the Health Professions Council time and time again, either on the Council or Professional Board level, and someone who still continues to step up to the plate when called upon by the HPCSA.

Continuing Professional Development

Ongoing professional development is not only a key requirement of the HPCSA licensure but also enables practitioners to grow their skills and ability to serve the well-being of patients and their professions.

HPCSA Annual Fees 2019/20

The HPCSA annual fees for 2019/20 have been published. Practitioners are reminded that annual fee payments are due by 1 April and valid until 31 March of the following year.

New HPCSA Registrar/CEO

The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Registrar/CEO Dr Manyangane Raymond Billa, who assumed his position on 01 January 2019.

HPCSA investigating scope of practice transgressions

The HPCSA notes with concern individuals performing healthcare services that fall outside their scope of practice. The Inspectorate Office is investigating various private companies performing home-based polysomnography (PSG) sleep studies and continuous positive airways pressure (CPAP) titration studies with the aid of PSG equipment.

As the concept of transparency gains prominence, the process of keeping patients informed becomes more important than ever. HPCSA guides health practitioners through key issues that patients to make better knowledgeable decisions.

HPCSA off-site registration drive 2018

The HPCSA will be hosting a series of off-site registration dates throughout the country – see the list of venues below. to The aim of this initiative is to ensure that practitioners are registered on time to commence with internships, community service or even independent practice. Practitioners will have the opportunity to submit applications to the registration team in their region.
