Update on Wave 3 of HPCSA Online Portal Enhancement

Wave 3 of HPCSA portal enhancements, focussing on making registration and certification services efficient and user-friendly, have been completed. This phase comprises three components, each targeting a specific core function of the HPCSA:

  • Wave 3A: Registrations and Certifications
  • Wave 3B: Education and Training
  • Wave 3C: Legal and Regulatory Affairs

Wave 3A: Registrations, Certificates and  Renewals

Wave 3A is focused on making registration and certification services more efficient and easier to access. The updated online portal will offer more transparency, allowing applicants to track the status of their service requests. Below is an overview of services that practitioners will be able to access using the portal:

  1. General Registrations
  • Subspecialist Registration & Certificates
  • Exemption due to Age
  • Exemption due to Ill Health
  • Internship to Independent Practice Progression (MTB, MS, OCP)
  • Volunteer Services
  • Notice of Death (New)
  1. Credentialing and Restoration
  • Verification of Medical Reports
  • Credential Verification Process
  • Restoration (includes quotations)
  • Instruction to Erase / Suspension
  • Certified Extracts (C.E.X)
  • Certificate of Good Standing and  IDC Issuance
  1. Foreign Qualified Practitioners
  • Foreign Qualified practitioners across all professions (for public service, postgraduate study, military service, government-to-government agreements, education)
  • Foreign Qualified Medical Interns
  • Foreign Qualified Specialists
  • Section 29 Registrations
  • Volunteer Service Certificates

Foreign-qualified practitioners will be able to submit their applications online. An HPCSA official will review the application for completeness and guide the applicant on any outstanding requirements. Only once the application is complete will the practitioner be prompted to submit the original supporting documents. The application will be finalised once the Central Registry confirms receipt of all required originals.

Current Portal Functionality
  1. You can log in using your ID number/ Passport/ registration number as a username on the HPCSA online portal.
  2. You can log your service request incident through the HPCSA online portal, instead of waiting in a call to be assisted.
  3. You can view the status of a service request as it is being attended to and can also communicate with the official attending to the incident.
  4. Proof of payment can be uploaded online for consideration, only if the payment has not been confirmed after two days.
  5. You can now do the following online:
    • Apply for registration and renew your on submissions by external CPD providers, view and upload unaccredited but recognised evidence of CPD compliance and track compliance status
    • Make payments and view invoices
    • Download your practising certificate and certificate of registration
    • Update your contact details (phone number, email address and physical address)
    • You can provide all addresses that you have and select one as a primary address
  6. There are now automated e-mail notifications inforpplications.
  7. Your data is securely stored and only accessed by authorised users.
