The Health Professions Council of South Africa is pleased to announce the Minister of Health’s decision, of appointing Dr Thabo Pinkoane as the Acting Registrar/CEO for a period of six months. Dr Pinkoane assumed his new role as Acting Registrar/CEO from 8 August 2022.
Since 2014, Dr Pinkoane was seconded to the Head Office, Limpopo Department of Health as Chief Director: Strategic Planning; Monitoring and Evaluation; Research, Health Information Management; Research; Quality Management and Complaints Management. “He has vast knowledge and experience of the healthcare sector, which will undoubtedly enable him to steer the organisation in the desired direction”, said Professor Simon Nemutandani, President of the HPCSA.
Dr Pinkoane obtained his BSc (Med) from Medunsa in 1985 and in 1994 he obtained his MBChB from the same institution. He is currently a member of the Medical and Dental Professions Board.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Acting Registrar/CEO, Ms Melissa De Graaff for holding the fort for the past ten months. This would have not been possible if it were not for the Executive Management Team who provided the support that was required”, said Professor Simon Nemutandani.
The HPCSA President and Council wish Dr Pinkoane all the best during his tenure at the HPCSA.
