The HPCSA continues to modernise and strengthen its services by optimising technology to better support practitioners. As part of our ongoing digital transformation journey, we have enhanced our digital platforms to streamline processes, improve accessibility, and provide a more efficient and user-friendly experience.
Online Portal Enhancement
Wave 3C and Beyond
We are now looking ahead to Wave 3C of the online portal enhancement, which will focus on improving the processing of matters relating to Legal and Regulatory Affairs, and will complete the Wave 3 rollout. Once finalised, Waves 3A, 3B, and 3C will collectively deliver a fully integrated, end-to-end digital ecosystem designed for seamless use.
Wave 3B
In this phase, practitioners gained the ability to easily and independently use the Online Portal to access key services – marking a step toward a fully integrated digital platform. The functionality of the Portal was expanded to enable end-to-end automation of Professional Practice processes. Key enhancements from this phase are:
- Automation of Professional Practices processes, including:
- Applications and reports in terms of Rule 18 and Ethical Rule 23A
- Health Impairment procedures
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD) processes
- Improved turnaround times and enhanced document management
- Streamlined communication between practitioners, Professional Boards, and HPCSA units
- Real-time tracking, secure uploads, and automated email notifications via the Online Portal
Wave 3A
Wave 3A was designed to streamline administrative workflows. In addition to enhancing system interface features and expanding self-service capabilities, this phase also delivered the digitisation of key registration and certification processes, including the following:
- Subspecialist Registration and Certificates
- Internship to Independent Practice conversions
- Volunteer Services and Exemptions (Age/Ill Health)
- Notice of Death submissions
Wave 2
This laid the foundation for the broader digital expansion you are now experiencing. The phase focused on digitising essential registration and certification functions, resulting in significant service improvements in the following areas:
- Online registrations and renewals
- Certificates of Good Standing and Credential Verification
- Restoration services and Certified Extracts
- Digital processing for foreign-qualified practitioner applications, improving efficiency and turnaround time
