The Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Council on Higher Education (CHE) signed a joint Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) aimed at streamlining the quality assurance process within the higher education sector.
The primary objective of this MoA is to establish a robust framework for cooperation and collaboration between the two organisations in the realm of quality assurance and promotion in higher education, with a particular focus on health education.
The MoA will remain effective for five years, with the possibility of renewal by mutual consent at the end of its term.
Under this collaborative partnership, both the HPCSA and CHE will engage in various essential activities, including but not limited to:
- Programme and/or qualification accreditation
- Standards development
- Qualification and other quality reviews
- Addressing quality concerns
- Research, advice, and knowledge dissemination
- Policy development
- Information and/or data sharing arrangements.
The MoA will streamline and enhance the quality assurance process within the higher education sector, specifically in the area of health education. This partnership will yield numerous benefits for both parties involved as well as the larger higher education community.
As part of this agreement, a comprehensive workplan will be collaboratively developed to outline the activities that will be jointly undertaken during the duration of the MoA.
The HPCSA are excited about the positive impact this alliance will have on the higher education sector and look forward to witnessing its fruitful outcomes.
