Maintenance of licensure

In 2013 the HPCSA proposed the introduction of a new program of monitoring the competency of healthcare professionals in the form of Maintenance of Licensure (MoL). This programme will replace the current Continuing Professional Development programme (CPD). The main objective of the MoL is to reassure the public that they are receiving treatment from competent healthcare professionals. This will also give confidence to other healthcare professionals that the public is receiving good quality care.

Implementation of the Maintenance of Licensure to the Developmental Board’s practitioners is envisaged to take place towards the end of 2020 when practitioners will be formally informed.
