The following ethical guidelines should be observed when practitioners print professional stationery. You must include the following in your printed and electronic letterheads and other stationery:
• Name;
• Profession;
• Registered category;
• Specialty or sub-specialty or field of professional practice (if any);
• Registered qualifications or other academic qualifications or honorary degrees in abbreviated form;
• Registration number;
• Addresses (including email address);
• Telephone and fax numbers;
• Practice or consultation hours;
• Practice code number; and
• Dispensing license number (if any).
If you fall into the following category, these are your guidelines: a group of practitioners practicing as a juristic person which is exempted from registration in terms of section 54A of the Act or a group of practitioners practicing in partnership, shall or have printed on letterheads, account forms and electronic stationery information pertaining only to such juristic person or partnership practitioners’:
• Name
• Profession;
• Registered category;
• Specialty or subspecialty or field of professional practice (if any);
• Registered qualifications or other academic qualifications or honorary degrees in abbreviated form;
• Registration number;
• Addresses (including email address);
• Telephone and fax numbers;
• Business hours;
• Practice number;
• Exemption from registration in terms of section 54A of the Act; and
• Dispensing license number (if any).
Remember that a practitioner may not use prescription forms or envelopes on which the name or address of a pharmacist is printed.
